Creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Established over two decades ago, the Devbhoomi Maa Ganga Swayam Sevi Charitable Trust is a leading grassroots organization dedicated to the holistic development of Uttarakhand. Operating at the intersection of tradition and progress, the Trust serves the rugged terrains of Tehri Garhwal and the spiritual corridors of Rishikesh, bridging the gap between urban advancement and rural necessity through the philosophy of Seva (selfless service). Our core mission is to combat the regional challenge of migration (Palayan) by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. We specialize in empowering marginalized communities—particularly women and youth—through the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and vocational training in organic agriculture and traditional handicrafts. By fostering economic self-reliance and providing access to essential life services, we strive to transform remote Himalayan villages into resilient, self-sufficient hubs of productivity.

Committed to the "last person in the last village," the Trust continues to safeguard the natural and cultural heritage of the Devbhoomi region, ensuring a future where local residents can thrive within their ancestral homes.

Sustainable Roots for Rural Uttarakhand.

The Devbhoomi Maa Ganga Swayam Sevi Charitable Trust is dedicated to reversing the tide of migration (Palayan) in the central Himalayas by transforming rural challenges into economic opportunities. Our work is centered on the belief that the prosperity of Tehri Garhwal lies in its people, its traditions, and its natural resources.

  • 1. SHG Motivation: The Engine of Social Change. We believe that collective action is the strongest tool for rural transformation. The Trust actively mobilizes women into Self-Help Groups (SHGs), providing more than just financial access—we provide a platform for leadership.
  • 2. Revitalizing the Handicraft & Handloom Sector. Tehri Garhwal possesses a rich textile and craft heritage that is often lost to urbanization. The Trust is committed to bringing these traditions to the global stage while providing a stable income for local artisans.

By integrating Skill-Based Education with Cultural Preservation, we are building a model where migration is no longer a necessity. Our work ensures that the youth of Tehri Garhwal have the tools, the market access, and the motivation to build a prosperous future within their own ancestral homes.

"Joining the Women’s Self-Help Group was the turning point of my life. Before the Trust intervened, I was a simple homemaker with no financial voice. Under the guidance of Mrs. Reena Uniyal, I received skill-based training that allowed me to start my own small venture. Today, I am proud to be a breadwinner for my family. A special thanks to Reena Ma’am for her tireless social activities and for believing in the women of Rishikesh."
